Eric Smith BSC (Hons.) MSc. MPhil PG Dip

Eric has extensive food industry experience from around the world especially the United States and Asia and was an advisor to the UK Government during the BSE crisis in the 1990’s.

He is considered an expert in his field and has worked with Foodtest for over 15 years. His qualifications include BSC. Environmental Health, MSc. Parasitology and a Post Graduate Diploma in Microbiology. He has provided crisis management and product recall consultancy around the world for well publicised food safety incidents and has provided assistance to the companies involved and acted as an intermediary with the FDA and FSA and other similar government enforcement agencies.

Eric can provide assistance in gaining SALSA, Red Tractor, BRC Food and BRC Agents and Brokers approval as well as providing 3rd Part Auditing Services. HACCP Training can also be provided up to level 4.

Marissa Schwoch BSc. (Hons.)

Marissa is a consultant food microbiologist and a Highfield trainer, and has worked in the food industry for 20 years.

Earlier in her career, Marissa worked in the product safety team at Sainsbury’s, then moved to Arla where she held a number of technical roles including Anchor Quality Manager and UK Group Food Safety Manager. Marissa now provides consultancy to food manufacturers, from large multi-site Companies to small artisan food producers. Typically, this could be by providing bespoke microbiology training on-site, helping to solve complex microbiological contamination issues, or a helping hand with shelf-life or understanding test results.

Marissa is an approved SALSA auditor, mentor and HACCP trainer. With a keen interest in artisan cheesemaking, Marissa has been a member of the SCA (Specialist Cheesemakers Association) technical committee for several years and has been lead tutor on cheese training courses for EHOs.
